365 days left in my 20's

Monday, November 23, 2009

Yup, that's right. I turned the big 2-9 over the weekend. I don't really want to turn 29. I'd like to go back to 22. I think that was a pretty fun year.

We celebrated all weekend. Friday night my in-laws took us out to dinner at Carino's (one of my favs) and we spent over 2 hours talking over our table. I'm sure your waiter wasn't too happy with us, but we had fun.

Saturday, Brandon surprised me with a Cricut. Well, I don't know about surprised...I've been asking for one for over a month. And I must confess, I would much rather be playing on the Cricut so I'll make this short.Ü We spent the afternoon with Pat, Heidi & GK shopping in Park City and finishing off with dinner at Alberto's downtown--looks ghetto--totally not. I L-O-V-E Albertos! They even gave me a couple of big containers of my favorite salsa because it was my birthday. Thanks Alberto!

Sunday Brandon woke up without a voice and coughing so we took the day off from church for him to recover. That just gave me more time to play on the Cricut!

Steph's family and Rob's family had a little birthday dinner for me that night at Rob's house. The food was great! It always tastes better when you don't have to cook it. Ü

Thanks everyone for a wonderful birthday!

New Moon

Thursday night, I got together with the Bunko Gals (I get to be a sub sometimes and it's a BLAST!) for an evening of Twilight. We all met at Chilis for dinner and trivia courtesy of Mandy and then made it over to the District in time to weave through the crowds and find out seats for New Moon. That place was a mad house!

And I totally loved the movie! I know it was a little cheesy and skipped some stuff from the book, but I still thought it was a fun movie. Can't wait for Eclipse on June 30th!

Camp Quilts

Heidi and I had a great idea to use our left over fabric and made quilts for camping. It was a great idea until we started.

I'm embarrassed to be posting these pictures. My house should never me that messy, but we had to have it that way so we could pick out our fabric. We still have a long way to go to get a quilt out of it, but we made a valiant effort.Ü Luckily we have until next summer to finish. We just might make it.

Disney on Ice

Saturday, November 14, 2009

Last night we got to take Emma & Aspen to Disney on Ice at Energy Solutions Arena. The girls talked the whole way there about princesses and where we would sit and how many stairs we would have to climb to see the show and they did NOT believe the Brandon was my Prince Charming...they giggled about that for a long time.
I didn't really know how this would all work out. I was sure the girls (and Brandon) would lose interest after a few minutes and we'd spend the entire evening walking up and down those stairs. But somebody at Disney really knows how to put on a show. Those girls were glued to it ice. We bought popcorn and they could hardly look away to take a handful.

We saw Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Snow White (Emma got scared when the wicked witch came on and cuddled up on Brandon's lap for the rest of the show), Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and Jasmine, and Belle and the Beast in the first act. During Intermission Brandon took the girls to walk around since we'd been sitting for so long and came back with a bag of cotton candy and a crown for him to wear. They all looked so cute watching the show in their crowns (Brandon included). The show finished with an abbreviated version of Cinderella. The girls loved this one! they came into the audience and tried the slipper on little kids and they were LOVING it!

The ride back to Bountiful was a pretty quiet one...

When life hands you lemons...

This is me making lemonade...

Thursday night we spent the evening at Brandon's Grandpa Jay's house. Jay had sent off two videos to be converted to DVD's and now that they were back, he needed to know how a DVD player worked. We spent about 2 hours explaining it to him and writing directions. I must admit, I was a little bored...and a little put out when I realized we were going to miss The Office--the one TV show I try to make time for. Fortunately for me, Jay is a somewhat collector of women's dollar store glasses. He never takes the sticker off the lens so you can always see what strength he is wearing. I've even seen him leave the tag around the nose of the glasses and wear them around the house with a tag hanging down his nose. Many of the glasses are broken, some missing lenses and I even found one pair of yellow glasses (Brandon says he uses these to look at the fall leaves because they make the leaves look so much better.Ü). These are only a small sampling of what his house has to offer in the way of eye glasses. I actually had a good time searching for glasses and sneaking a picture. I think this is going to be a fun new game when we spend long winter evenings at Jay's.

P.S. My favorite pair is in the bottom right hand corner. I swear those glasses are from the 60's. I love them!

Best Disney Movie...EVER!

Hello! Up has been out for 3 whole days now...I assume all of you have a copy (especially since there is a $10 coupon online for the DVD/Blue Ray Combo pack). I absolutely LOVE this show. I think it's actually the story of my life. If you haven't seen it, you are really missing out!
Tuesday night we babysat Lizzie, Emi & Ali and made it a movie night for the girls. I think they liked Up. They were so funny. The last half of the movie Emi asked every 30 seconds when we would see the baby birds. I guess telling her we would see them at the end of the movie wasn't specific enough for her.Ü Lizzie was very serious about the show...she didn't say a word through the whole thing. Ali was an absolute angel! I was a little nervous because she's so little, but she must just love her favorite aunt & uncle because she was super good!

We just love having these girls so close... Thanks for letting us babysit, Rob & Kelsie. Call us anytime.Ü

The Pheasant Hunt

Monday, November 9, 2009

We've sort of made it a tradition to spend the first weekend of the pheasant hunt in Lewiston--it's our third year of hunting.

Following tradition, the boys got up bright and early and set out on the hunt. Heidi, GK and I tried to sleep in. According to Brandon & Pat, they actually saw lots of pheasants, but only ended up shooting 1. I'm actually happier with the fewer pheasants they bring back. I'm not much of a pheasant eater...and we actually left the frozen pheasant in my parents freezer so I guess I don't have to eat this one either. Ü

Heidi and I just hung out in Cache Valley all day. I went to get my hair done (thanks Traci!) while my mom took Heidi and GK to the farm. GK loved it! I wish I would have been there. And he just played all day.

We also had a little crafting hour with my mom. She has to donate a craft for the Lewiston craft fair in a couple of weeks. And I think this one is gonna sell. I love Mod Podge!

Thanks for a fantastic hunting weekend...see you next year!
